Where it's at...

I got two turn tables and a microphone...(can't you just hear that song every time you see that phrase??  Loved me some Beck back in the day!)

Ok, so I didn't write this post to quote old-school song lyrics.  It is actually an adoption update post!

So, (drum roll please) WE ARE ACTIVE!  "What does that mean?" you ask.  Well, it basically means that the agency in Florida will begin showing our profile book to moms they meet with.  We are at the bottom of the viewing list, meaning, if the agency only shows 10 books to a mom and there are 15 families that meet her hopes for an adoptive family, we won't get shown if 10 of those families have been in the process longer than us.  Whew, kind of like a bad math problem, eh?!

Here's the scoop on the time frame.  I have no idea.  The agency, in all their desire to provide an emotional buffer to us, said it could take anywhere from 6-18 months.  Yuck.  Nothing worse than waiting when you have no idea how long you have to wait.  It's sort of like being at the DMV waiting with hundreds of other people to get your license.  Actually, it is nothing like that, but the waiting stinks wherever you are.  In this case, the time varies so much because we actually have to be chosen by a mom at the agency.

Chosen.  Chosen.  I am so thankful that there is a host of scripture to tell me how "chosen" I am (see Colossians 3:12-17 or 2 Thessalonians 2:13-15, just to name a few), otherwise this would be all-the-more difficult.  I mean, we're putting ourselves out there and someone actually has to pick us.  Yikes.

We made a profile book to help our prospective match choose us, but still!  I wonder if the moms looking at our book wonder if we clean the bathroom regularly, ever have explosive moments, or like to listen to really bad music.  Seriously, the book is only like 13 pages long and although we tried to be honest, we also (obviously) painted a pretty picture.  Lord help us be chosen!

There it is!  I ordered a copy to keep, since the agency got the rest (ahem, 12 copies).  I will be doing a little bit of a profile book tour on here for those of you who live far away and won't be able to see it!

So friends, for now we wait.  (I'm picking up on a theme here...)  We eagerly and hopefully wait, praying the match will come sooner than later.  In the meantime, the in between time (another old-school song lyric I can't help but sing), I'll keep crafting, mothering, praying, working, and running pounding the pavement to keep my mind off the wait!
