I'm no Supermom, Follow-up!

I have figured it out. Not parenting, not my kids, but how I want to be in relation to those two things. I have been reading a book called, "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin. I admit, I was not excited to start this book. My book club chose it and I aquiesced. I read the first 100 or so pages with little impact, mostly because of my bad attitude. (Enter my post on not being a supermom.) Then I read this quote (Gretchen's 3rd great truth), "The days are long, the years are short."

I really began to take that in. It was just what I needed to hear!! I didn't want the time to pass quickly, I want to be here, now. Living like today is the only day, albeit long and sometimes painful, is how I want to live.

I want to enjoy my son's raspberries, his block buildings, his coos, his exclamations of joy, and whatever else there may be! Yes, even his mud up to his ears from jumping in mud puddles excitement! BE HERE, NOW.

Here is a quick (like 1 minute) video Gretchen Rubin did to express this phrase. It is just how I want to be! I hope you enjoy. And I challenge you to do the same...because truly, the days may be long, but the years are short!

I'm glad you found this great quote. It is very true.

I also have heard the phrase "This too shall pass". Except my sister in law told it to me coupled with the phrase "You're going to miss this."

I've repeated these two together many times to myself and it has really eased the stress of those hard days.
