To cry or not to cry...

Yes, that is the question! Are we spoiling our boy already? These past two days have been pretty tough on me. Korban doesn't want to sleep unless someone is holding him. He needs to be swaddled in order to sleep well (even if someone is holding him), but the child is houdini in disguise. He can get out of a wrap i literally seconds. He sucks at soothing himself (hahaha, notice the pun??) so the crying goes on and on.
So, all you moms out there...are you from the "let him cry" school, or the "you can't spoil him" school? And what about when I've let him cry for an hour and he still goes on? Then what? He stops when I pick him up!! So does that make me the sucker??
Man, I am so glad to be a mom, but figuring this whole crying business out is very tough! Any advice? (and I'm not kidding, I'll take it!!)

I've had both kinds of kiddos...very easy and very challenging. SO, I can tell you, #1- you're doing a great job because I can see you are taking care of and loving your sweet boy. #2 - I'm from the let him cry camp, BUT - I didn't do this until closer to 8 weeks...and that was with a girl...I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Guilt, I'm afraid, comes from the enemy and is a burden ALL moms share!

Once I felt Ali had a grasp on things and had shown she could figure things out, spent time out of my arms, slept long periods, etc...then we withstood 4 hours of crying for 3 nights. Then it was done....but not for a second do I think that was fun or easy!!!! I think I cried the entire 4 hours each night as well...

Hang in there...you LOVE your son and you KNOW what he needs. :)

OH -
and the biggest life savers with Ali wanting to be held all the time were the front pack and then the move to the backpack.

I love all the pictures, and I love how you are so funny and honest...It brings a smile to my face, but I know this time is really hard.... You know that I am not a mom.....but I have seen my mom and my sister-n-laws set a timer and they let the baby cry for that long without checking on them....

I have no freaking idea! LOL. I sure am glad you get to go through this first, so when it's my turn, you'll have all the answers.

Kisses to the kiddo for me!

I decided to go back and review your blog since I am now where you were then. This post perfectly describes Esmé, especially the bit about him needing the swaddle and always getting out of it. Today our nearly escape proof velcro swaddle was in the wash so Kyle had to use a blanket for a swaddle. No matter how tight he wrapped her, Esme's arms kept shooting out the top and I've never seen Kyle get so upset over a blanket! I think our daughter learned several new swear words today. We quickly did the laundry and now she is once again wrapped tight with velcro and sleeping much better.

Oh, and the crying until you picked him up, US TOO! It is so confusing when books say, "put her down and eventually she'll drift off to sleep." Drift?!! No such thing!
