He Built us a House
We have lived in Balfour, British Columbia for 2 and a half years now. During that time we have prayed about, sought, visted, shaken down and pressed just about every housing option available in our area with no results we felt good about.
You see, we live in a "resort" sort of area. There are mountians, a beautiful lake, great skiing, golfing, etc. This means that a lot retirees and vacationers live here. Enter rising housing prices! It is super hard for a young family with a single income to afford their own home.
We are so thankful for our current living situation, a basement suite we rent from some of our friends/members of the church. I don't know what we would have done had this not been available when we moved here!
Last summer we began entertaining the idea of buying property in a development down the road (that we had never looked seriously at because it has rules and houses way out of our price range). After much prayer and seeking counsel from wise friends, we moved ahead and God provided us a beautiful .76 acre lot in that development!!
November of 2011 we dug out the basement and poured the foundation. Then we waited!
Here is a shot of what it looked like at the beginning of framing day 1 (those are our friends/builders in the picture).
Here is the end of framing day 1. I was overjoyed to see that wood going up!
End of framing, day 2. We have a basement and a main floor!! Yippee
This was the biggest change for me, end of framing day 3. Now it really looks like a house!
No, I'm not excited or anything? Who doesn't love to jump around in their future kitchen??**
End, day 4. You can see that we have a lower deck started.
I didn't put up a day 5 picture because the changes are harder to see from this angle. There is now the framework for an upper deck and also the interior wall frames went up. The boys had a blast getting to walk around their new rooms!
**We share all this with you not to boast, but to let you see how much God has blessed us. We are incredibly thankful for our new home and know that without His guidance and help it would not be possible.
